The Dark Ride Project is a Virtual Reality archive of historic indoor amusements from across the globe. It is the first repository of the Dark Ride experience, using cutting edge technology to capture both the physical construction and the unique immersive experience.

Since the turn of the century, Ghost Trains, Haunted House rides, Old Mill rides and many other types of Dark Ride have featured in the amusement park landscape. Their invention pre-dates feature length cinema and their impact can be seen throughout popular culture. Sadly, of the hundreds of Dark Rides that were built in the 20th century only a handful still exist. Over the coming months the Dark Ride Project will travel from Australia to the USA and the UK to capture rides from the 1900’s, 1930’s and 1960’s.
The Dark Ride Project is seeking support to grow the archive, continue field research as well as store and exhibit the content.
